And, I'm back.

I took some time away from the blog, partly because I couldn't think of a post's worth of information, and partly because I've been so tired. I've had some trouble sleeping recently, and found some sleeping pills at the PX (Our version of a Walmart) and tried them in hopes that it would help. Well, they helped me sleep like a rock, but I wake up at 5:30 am every morning (Not by choice, trust me. I think it's ludicrous as well.) and I wake up still so drowsy that it's miserable. It doesn't stop after breakfast, though. I'm EXHAUSTED all day to the point of having trouble staying awake when sitting in my chair at work. To counter it, I started chugging coffee throughout the day. Well, it works, but by the time I get back from work I'm so tired and strung out on caffeine at the same time that I'm STILL miserable. So I think I'm going to lose the pills, and wean myself off of coffee. So much for that experiment.
I got to talk to my Grandfather (AKA Poppy) today for the first time since I've been here in Okinawa. I must say, he is probably one of my favorite people in the world, and by far the most selfless person I know. He's never known a stranger, and never turns down someone in need of help. Growing up, I would help do small construction, electrical and plumbing projects he would do for people who needed good work done, but didn't have the money to pay a business to do it. I learned so much from him. From the time I was about 11, I knew how to build a deck, wire and plumb a house, and build almost anything that needed to be built just from working with him and watching him do it. It was how we bonded. We also both have a love for fishing, which we did frequently when I was growing up. Some of my fondest memories have been with him, and I'd be blessed to turn into half the man that my Grandfather is. Until next time, Goodnight.
